Dodd’s filibuster threat scuttles telco immunity, for now

Sen. Chris Dodd succeeded in preventing the Senate from granting broad legal immunity to telecommunications companies that helped the NSA warrantlessly wiretap Americans. After nearly 10 hours of debate Monday, the Senate decided to forgo a vote on a FISA update until next year, under the threat of Dodd’s filibuster.
